SCIENTIFIC DIRECTION
Introduction and research of industrially important and ornamental plants from tropical and subtropical zones of the world for practical use and for the purpose of enrichment of cultural flora. Based on the recommendations of the Botanic Gardens Conservation Strategy (1994) adopted by the World Botanical Gardens Council, preference is given to endemic, rare and endangered plants growing in the tropics and subtropics.
MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS
During the introduction of the laboratory (since 2000), as a result of research, about 200 new plant species have been studied and submitted for application. The nature of the adaptation of structural features in the evolution of the studied species has been revealed, and the ecological basis for the cultivation of these plants in the introduced dry subtropical conditions has been developed and recommended.
