Improving the environmental situation, protecting nature, and ensuring a healthy habitat for humans are crucial priorities. One of the key strategies for environmental protection is expanding green spaces and preserving biodiversity. The Central Botanical Garden primarily focuses on the conservation and protection of the gene pool of rare and endangered plant species, which thrive in various ecological conditions within the republic, as well as those imported from abroad to enrich and study Azerbaijan's plant resources. Additionally, the Garden plays a key role in popularizing the achievements of botanical and environmental sciences. To support these goals, regular excursions are organized, offering schoolchildren a valuable opportunity to spend their free time outdoors, away from the classroom, while learning about ecology and nature conservation. During these excursions, students are introduced to rare and endangered plant species and receive detailed information from the Garden's scientific staff about the importance of biodiversity preservation, the role of green spaces in maintaining ecological balance, and the importance of proper waste management. For instance, dried leaves are processed in special pits, which then serve as the base for creating peat fertilizer. Moreover, these excursions provide an opportunity for students to understand the significance of caring for nature and to actively participate in practical activities. The active involvement of schoolchildren in these excursions is not only vital for environmental protection but also plays a crucial role in fostering environmental education among the younger generation.
